In 2007, the Iowa Legislature passed House File 908, which required IDPH to establish and administer a plumber and mechanical professional licensing board. Proposed rules describing the application, licensing and examination processes and rules outlining the licensure fees were filed for Notice of Intended Action and published for public comment on November 5, 2008. A series of public hearings on the rules are scheduled over the next several weeks to solicit public comment.  More >>

Last year, the Iowa General Assembly passed the Health Care Reform Bill to make health care more affordable and accessible to Iowans. From expanding coverage for children to improving end-of-life care, House File 2539 will rely on recommendations from several advisory bodies. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) coordinates the activities of seven of these committees, councils and panels.  More >>
